[TIPS] Increase Your Harddrive Speed In Windows Vista

Windows Vista Hard drive default setting doesn’t enable advance performance. You can enable it to improve your hard drive perfomance, but i suggest you only do this for laptop with good battery condition or a PC with backup power supply. Since enabling this option increase the risk of data lost if the hard drive lose power.

To enable hard drive advance performance in Windows Vista:

1. Click Start then Control Panel
2. Open Device Manager
3. Expand the Disk drives branch
4. Double-click on your disk drive to open Device properties
5. Click on the Policies tab
6. Check Enable advanced performance
7. Click Ok

The other thing that can improve your hard drive performance is disable low disk space warning. This will disable checking on your hard drive everytime you read and write data. I found this feature is useless, since i can see how much space available on my hard drive.

To disable it:

1. Open Registry Editor- Start Menu > Run > type regedit
2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplorer
3. Right click on the right pane and select New Dword (32 bit) Value
4. Enter NoLowDiskSpaceChecks and hit Enter
5. Right click on the new Dword and click Modify
6. Change the data to 1
7. Click Ok
